Try using picture frame crafts to help your kids show their mothers how special they are this Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day crafts teach your kids to show their mothers, grandmas, aunts, or any other moms how much their kids love and appreciate them. This picture frame decoration by the kids will also contain their picture, making it something they will hang on the wall! Don’t forget to play some Mother’s Day music while making these picture frames!

Skills

Types of skills can include math, science, fine motor, dramatic play, social and emotional. Here is how this Mother’s Day picture frame applies these skills:

Math

Add in math concepts by having your child count how many popsicle sticks, shapes, colors, flowers and jewels used to create the frame.

Fine Motor Skills

Your child will learn how to use their pincer grasp to glue the flowers and jewels to make the beautiful frame.

Dramatic Play and Social/Emotional

Children can use this frame as a way to express their feelings and love to their moms.

Boundaries

Make sure you supervise your child when using small items such as gems. They may accidentally put them in their mouth.

Materials

You will use four popsicle sticks, fabric flowers, gems, a picture of the child, cardstock paper, and glue.

Steps

Firstly, have the child pick four popsicle sticks and glue them together to make a square. Let it dry completely before continuing to the next step.

Next, have the child glue the fabric flowers on the square.

Then, supervise the child while gluing the gem on the flowers to create a shiny look. Let it dry completely.

Lastly, glue the child’s picture on the card stock paper and glue it on the square to create a special frame.

Lastly, let it dry and the picture frame is ready to be given on Mother’s Day to bring a smile to someone’s face.

Modifications

You can create and cut up your own flowers or hearts from construction paper instead of using fabric flowers.

You can have the child draw something meaningful to place inside the frame instead of using the child’s picture.
