Skills

Types of skills can include math, science, fine motor, dramatic play, social and emotional. Here is how this horse applies these skills:

Math

Add in math concepts by having your child count how many chocolate chips are on their cookie. You can also have them identify any colors or shapes they use when decorating the cookie.

Science

Try explaining the process of making a cookie to your children. Mixing dough with liquid and make it super hot might spark their attention.

Fine Motor Skills

Chidren will definitely use their pincer grasp when decorating their cookies. Additionally, those with more skills can also use scissors to improve their cutting skills.

Dramatic Play and Social/Emotional

Try pretending to eat the cookies and ask your students how they taste. Also ask the students how they feel when they get a cookie.

Boundaries

Make sure you supervise your child when using scissors and other sharp items. Keep your eyes out on paint just to make sure nobody starts tasting it.

Materials

You will use brown and white construction paper, scissors, glue, pencils with eraser tips, markers, and sponge tip markers.

Steps

Do These Steps Before Working With the Children:

Firstly, find yourself a Letter C template. Print out the template with the white construction paper and cut it out. If you have a cutting machine like a Cricut, feel free to automate the printing and cutting process!

Next, use the brown construction paper to cut out a circle roughly the same size as your letter C template.

Do These Steps With the Children:

Have the children decorate the letter C with the sponge tip markers.

Glue the letter C onto the brown circle.

Now, have the children dip the pencil eraser tip into some black paint, then stamp it into the brown paper to create the chocolate chips.

And you’re done! Let the craft dry and don’t forget to use it during class.

The cookie is complete!
